About us

Our story

ScholarTute was created with a simple vision: to give every student the personalised support they deserve. We specialise in specialist entry test preparation, helping your child stand out in a highly competitive selection process.

We help primary and early-high-school students prepare for the Ignite selective-entry exam and the ACER Scholarship tests.

Our goal extends not only to supporting the development of exam-ready students, but children who have built the foundations to excel in STEM at school as well.

Personalised approach

Lessons adapt to each student's strengths and gaps.

Expert tutors

Our tutors got into selective programs and won scholarships themselves.

Proven results

Our students have won places and full scholarships at Adelaide's top schools.

The tests

What are the tests?

A plain-English overview of the two exams we prepare students for.

ACER Scholarship Test

Scholarships at Adelaide's independent schools

A series of academic ability tests independent schools use to award scholarships — typically 20% to 100% of school fees. Many Adelaide schools share one Cooperative test day, so a single sitting can count for several schools at once.

  • Held each February — registration usually closes mid-January
  • Preparation begins in Years 5–6 for entry into colleges in Year 7
  • Written expression, humanities & reading, and mathematics (numerical & abstract reasoning)

Ignite Entry Exam

Selective entry to SA's public Ignite programs

The Ignite entrance exam — administered by ACER — is the gateway to the Department for Education program for gifted and talented students at Glenunga International High School, The Heights School and Aberfoyle Park High School, where students progress at a pace suited to their abilities.

  • Entrance exams are typically held each February
  • Preparation begins in Years 5–6 for entry in Year 7
  • Reading comprehension, mathematical & abstract reasoning, and written expression

Test dates and details change from year to year — see the FAQ for more detail.

How we work

Our five-step approach

From an initial consultation through to test day.

  1. 1

    Boutique consultation

We meet you and your child one-on-one to assess their current level, confirm the target test and schools, and set out a plan.

  2. 2

    Diagnostic mock

A full-length diagnostic test maps your child's strengths and gaps before classes begin.

  3. 3

    Small group classes

Classes are capped at 10 students, so teaching adjusts to each child.

  4. 4

    Realistic practice

Original questions and timed mock exams matched to the actual ACER and Ignite format.

  5. 5

    Test-day preparation

The final weeks cover strategy, timing and avoiding common mistakes.
